Happy Summer!

Note: Students should be able to freely communicate with me when they struggle with homework, knowing they can admit that they don't understand a task—and can do so without penalty. Assignments may be tailored to individual readiness or needs, incorporating options or choice as appropriate. Math Facts "What is the best way for you to practice your math facts?" Some students learn better by reciting them, creating a table, or setting them to music. Think about how you learn best and study your facts that way. Spelling Create your own method to practice spelling words or choose one of the following: Write or type the words three times, spell them out loud, use Scrabble tiles to spell them, practice on Spelling City, trace them with your finger, or create a puzzle using the words. Reading Read each evening. Once a week, estimate how much time you've spent reading and write a short paragraph about what you’ve been reading. Parents: Instead of worrying about whether students did the reading, focus on whether the reading did them any good. It is always a good idea for kids to read aloud to you 5-10 minutes each evening as you look at the text with them. |
